Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, now is a good time to start thinking of some creative ways to show your love to that special someone. Not that anyone could object to flowers or chocolate, but there’s something about a handmade gift or thoughtful gesture that is extra awesome. I still have every handmade card my husband ever made me. I’d share some of them with you, but they are usually hilariously rude and x-rated and I love them 🙂
Here are some quick ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
1. Love notes. In a world of email and text messages, there’s something very personal and intimate about getting a hand written love note. I’ve found them taped to the bathroom mirror, tucked into my lunch and even hidden in my passport. Although it’s a damn good thing I found that one before the customs agent did ;). The more random and fun the notes are, the better.
2. Beer poetry. I’ve mentioned this on another blog before, but it’s a good one if your lovey likes craft beer. Pick up at least 6 different beers based entirely on how funny or easily you can rhyme with the name. The stranger, the better. Write a little poem about your love with one rhyming couplet per beer. Then toast and drink to your beautiful and boozy relationship.
3. Make something handmade. Draw a picture, make a macaroni necklace, take a picture of the place you first met and frame it. Hand made doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming, it just has to be thoughtful and hopefully, make them smile.
When your gift is from the heart, you’re actually giving a feeling. And it’ll last a lot longer than the beer 😉
